Democracy
I use imagery and allegory to start conversations about issues affecting democracy. Birds can symbolize societal actors while telling stories. The subjects are complex, as are the intricate lace and patterned surfaces of the sculptures. I make the subjects approachable through the disarming comfort of knitted yarn. These sculptures explore immigration, perception, voting, and democracy.
