Knit Democracy Together

Improve the electoral process

I’m taking the historical practice of knitting circles and re-envisioning them as modern craftivist assemblies. While coming together to craft the building blocks of a characteristic state capitol building, we’ll talk about ways to change the role of money in election campaigns.

Money in elections affects everything from the dynamics of campaigning to the people who influence policy decisions. By changing the way campaign finance programs we can empower a broader range of donors and constituents. This, in turn, gives candidates and elected officials an incentive to listen to a broader range of voices.

Attend a knitting circle

I launched the knitting circles in April 2020 with a virtual circle using Zoom. Participants knit, crochet, or make make finger cord (no skill required) to create building blocks for the sculpture.

A variety of organizations are hosting circles. Get the schedule, see sample building blocks, and learn more about the project by clicking below.
