Oh, to touch the artwork
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the tactile aspect of artwork. The materiality of yarn is a big reason why I work with it. It’s a bummer that we are stuck seeing new artwork on computer screens rather than in person these days. We are missing part of the experience.
Escape and fly away!
Birds are one of my favorite subjects. Perhaps it is because I see them everyday: visiting my bird feeder, nesting under the eaves of the garage, perched overhead on electric wires. But,

Why we need art, now!

“Wait, don‘t throw that out. Maybe I can use it.” That item about to hit the trash might be just the right shape for a beak or a tail, adding a surprise twist. More importantly, it might be an essential element in a serious story about the impact of people on nature.
